The Top Resources for Learning 13 Statistical Topics
Let’s be honest—it easy to find information about
statistics. Lots and lots. Only problem is, much of it is incomprehensible. But there are gems in the
rough.
This 10 page ebook is a "short list" of the best resources I can recommend to
researchers who need to learn a new topic in statistics.
You can find more exhaustive lists of statistics resources. I have them in my resources section and there are many others on the web. Sometimes you need long lists because you're looking for very specific information.
But when you're just learning something new, you need to know where to start to get an overview in language you can understand.
This list contains only the few, the best, that I personally recommend to my clients.
This list will not be useful to statistics beginners. These resources are intended for researchers with some background in statistics. You need to have a good conceptual understanding of hypothesis
testing, general statistical concepts, and be relatively comfortable performing
a multiple regression or factorial ANOVA.
The Topics:
- Complex Surveys
- Factor Analysis
- Logistic Regression
- Missing Data
- Mixed ANOVA Models
- Multilevel Regression Models
- Nonparametric Statistics
- Path Analysis
- Poisson & Negative Binomial Regression
- Principal Components Analysis
- Sample Size Calculations
- Structural Equation Modeling
- Survival and Event History Analysis
- Tobit Regression
As a bonus, you will receive StatWise, my free monthly eNewsletter for researchers who want to improve their statistical capacity and do better research.
"StatWise is SO helpful, Karen -- I'm excited to keep learning! I have assigned some of the articles you've recommended to my
Research Methods class."
